Walkie

Support

Walkie is an iPhone app for the AI coding agents on your own Mac. Email open an issue on GitHub and a person answers, usually within a day.

Setting up

On the Mac, run curl -fsSL https://walkie.cc/install.sh | bash. It installs the open-source bridge as a background service and prints a QR code. In Walkie on your iPhone, tap Scan pairing code, or copy the walkie://pair… link it prints and tap Paste pairing link.

Walkie needs node 20 or newer on the Mac, and at least one of the CLIs installed and signed in: claude (Claude Code), codex, agy (Antigravity) or grok. CLIs you don't have simply don't appear.

Reaching your Mac away from home

Install Tailscale on both the Mac and the iPhone, signed into the same account. The pairing code then uses the Mac's Tailscale name and works anywhere. Without Tailscale the code uses the Mac's local name and works on the same Wi-Fi only.

"Can't reach your Mac"

"This conversation is open in another app on your Mac"

A Claude Code session that's open in a terminal or the Claude desktop app can't be driven from the phone at the same time (two copies would write the same session file). Close it there, or start a new conversation.

Updating the bridge

Re-run the install command. It pulls the latest code and restarts the service; your pairing key stays, so the phone stays paired. If the phone says the bridge or the app needs updating, that's why.

Free for one subscription, and the purchase

Walkie is free for the first CLI you send a message on. Using a second one, continuing a conversation on another plan, or sending a plan to projects across plans asks you to buy Walkie for all subscriptions once ($9.99, Family Sharing). It's tied to your Apple Account; Restore purchase is in Settings and on the purchase sheet. You can change which CLI is your free one in Settings until you buy.

Customizing Walkie

Quick asks and project names live in ~/.walkie/walkie.json on the Mac. Ask any of your agents to edit it; the bridge ships a skill at mac/skill/SKILL.md that explains the format. Changes show on the phone within a second.

Removing Walkie

launchctl bootout gui/$(id -u)/com.walkie.bridge
rm -rf ~/walkie ~/.walkie ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.walkie.bridge.plist

Then delete the app. Your CLIs and their session histories are untouched; Walkie never copied them.
